Global StudiesShort Story of the Effects on Global Warming:
I extended my short story from my second project into my third project. However, I changed key factors within the story. For instance, I added information based on how global warming affects the human population rather than how the human population is destroying a plethora of life forms on Earth. I made a timeline from 2008-2100 of the real world and the fictional world in my dystopian story. The timeline consists of politics, nature, and social between differing groups of people. The reader can see that there are connections between the timeline and the story. These connections correspond with what is occurring in the world now and what will occur in the future. By documenting and creating possible future events, I was able to make up fictional events for my story. |

As for my english portion of this project, I made a children's book. My idea behind making a children's book on global warming is that children now are the future of the human race. Essentially, what the means is that the children in today's world are going to be the one's who need to solve the problems in the hands of the whole human race. Children are going to have to learn at a young age what global warming is and get it engraved in their brains as they develop into adults.
To create my children's book, I did research on how to write a children's book that would engaged the targeted audience. My essential question was, "How am I going to write this children's book to get kids to want to make a difference in the world?" In order to do so, I created a character who goes by the name Timmy. He's an ordinary kid with a vast imagination as most kids are. The setting is based in school on Earth day in Mr. Smith's class room where Timmy and his classmates learn about climate change and some of the factors causing climate change.
As Mr. Smith is teaching the lesson, Timmy begins to imagine himself as a hero who is trying to defeat the greenhouse gases (The Invisible Shadow). Timmy contemplates ways of destroying the harmful substance but can't put his finger on the solution.
At the end of the story, Mr. Smith explains that no one needs to be a hero to save the world, but rather collectively do small things to make a difference.

Development 2:
As for the art portion of this project, I created illustrations to go along with the plot of the story. Each image contains something meaningful to the plot. These illustrations show the pollution from factories and buses cascading into the air. I have major problems being shown through the illustrations that children may overlook, but adults won't. I didn't make this children's book just for children, but adults as well. I did this so I could remind them and allow them to point out these situations to their children in order to raise awareness of what's occurring in the world.
