Thinking skill: PERSPECTIVE
For my english portion I wrote a spoken word. I talk about what humans are doing to earth, how the've destroyed it, and how the Earth won't be able to sustain life if humans keep on abusing it (depletion of natural resources, cutting down forests, polluting the oceans, etc.). I wrote the spoken word as a personified version of Earth because it can resembles an ill human being. And what does one do to another who is ill? They try to nurture that person back to health. However, humans seem take Earth for granted. In the book Ishmael by Daniel Quinn, Ishmael, a gorilla who tells the story of mankind states, "The world was given to man to turn into a paradise, but he's always screwed up, because he's fundamentally flawed." This quote shows that humans take what's given for granted because there isn't any thought process on what the repercussions could be.

Development 2
These images gave me inspiration for my painting. I wanted to add in realistic factors like atmospheric perspective. Atmospheric perspective is when objects that are further away and have a hazy, lighter looking color to them. For instance, in every single one of these pictures you can see a mountain in the foreground and if you look behind it, you'll notice another mountain that looks like it has an atmospheric, cloudy look.

The PERSPECTIVE OF THE FLOWERS |
The calla lilies and the kudzu vines are a great representation of Earth and its tumultuous relationship with the human race. In the painting, the spectator can see this marvelous background of beauty, but what stands out the most is the flowers being choked out by the kudzu vines. The calla lilies are meant to represent earth while the kudzu vines are meant to represent how the human race is destroying precious life. The calla lilies are watching each other suffocate from the kudzu vines. They’re can feel its main resource (soil) become polluted with nitrogen. Their roots become smothered; their stems become weak; they watch one fall ill by the poisonous green. This corresponds with what humans are doing to earth. They’re choking out the natural resources the earth provides which are key to survival. However, the only difference is that the human race is depleting the resources which eventually cause problems for their own survival while the kudzu isn’t endangering itself.

For my global studies portion I'm wrote a short story. The story is based in the year of 2100. My main character, Chase, embarks on adventures with his friend Remi to try and find resources that are valuable to daily life. Within the story, the reader will start to notice how the world has changed in several different ways. That being said, the major factor that affects the problems the human population (which has dwindled significantly) is climate change. Climate change affects crops, cattle, forestry, and sources of water. Life is already hard as it is for Chase and Remi, but they're always being hunted by the United States Preservation Army (USPA). The USPA is a group of men who murder scavengers and gather resources for themselves. Chase and Remi have to devise plans and routes to avoid running into them.
I have factual evidence that reveals information as to why I have something in there. It it's not intended to break up the text however, the reader can look over the text to get a better understanding of my own perspective on the world in 2100.
